Fill Card Lab

Fill Card Lab

This is my awesome classmate Andrew. Our lab today was based on fill cards. We were to take a photo of a classmate with our lens set to 35mm and where the face basically fills up the frame. With the shot on the left, our classmate Sophie was out-of-frame holding a big, white “fill” card (basically a big solid-white foam board) up to his face to help reflect the subtle light back onto his features. The image on the right has no fill card. The fill card adds a softness and glow that seems very subtle, but can change the entire effect of an image. This project was to help us demonstrate that as well as prepare us to take photos of strangers at this distance.
